MEETING HELD IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM IN CITY HALL AT 10300 TORRE AVENUE , CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA The meeting was called to order at 7:35 PM by Chairwoman Jackson. ROLL CALL: Present Members: Gong, Miller, Chairwoman Jackson Absent Members: Mann Staff Present: Mark Caughey, Associate Planner CONSENT CALENDAR: ITEM 1) APPLICATION ASAC 51.B16.1 SYMCOM (APPLE COMPUTERI Requesting approval of ground signs for two existing industrial office locations on the north side of Valley Green Drive, west of De Anza Boulevard. (20705, 20665 Valley Green Drive) DECISION: BY UNANIMOUS VOTE, THE COMMITTEE APPROVED CONSENT CALENDAR ITEM 1 ACCORDING TO THE PROVISIONS OF RESOLUTION NO. 1424. INFORMAL ADVISORY REVIEW ITEM 2) BATEH BROTHERS LIQUORS AND GROCERIES Requesting approval of change of exterior colors for an existing commercial building at the southwest corner of Stevens Creek Blvd. and Foothill Blvd. ISSUES: - Compatibility of colors chosen with the office center on the northwest corner, and the veterinary clinic on the northeast corner of SCB/Foothill. DIRECTION: - Return to 10/10/88 ASAC to present alternate choice to one or both colors INFORMAL REVIEW OF USE PERMIT APPLICATIONS ITEM 3) APPLICATION 26-U-88 PASADENA DEVELOPMENT GROUP Requesting approval of a Use Permit to construct a multi -story office/residential b'ding consisting of 3,800 s.f. of office space and six apartment units. The site is located on the East side of Pasadena Avenue, between Stevens Creek Blvd and Lomita Avenue. ISSUES: - Height/number of stories in relationship to adjoining structures - Circulation (Ingress/Egress) with adjoining parcels. - Architecture: Height/roof forms; exposed beams; thematic fenestration - Adequacy of landscape treatment - Pedestrian access onto street from retail spaces SUMMARY MINUTES -- ASAC MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 26, 1988 Page - 2 - ITEM 4) APPLICATION ION 27-U•88: ROBERT H LEE ASSOC (SHELL OILI Requesting approval of a Use Permit to install and operate a single stall car wash structure as an incidental use to an existing gasoline service station/minimarket located on the northeast corner of Stelling Road and Stevens Creek Blvd. ISSUES: - Implement additional landscaping on N. boundary if no access to adjoining site - Acceptability of proposed materials and forms - Blockage of minimarket parking stalls by car wash queuing FORMAL REVIEW ITEM 5) APPLICATION ASAC-22-U-88 -- DERK HUNTER Requesting approval of architecture and landscaping for an office building addition, in response to conditions of Use Permit approval. The site is located on the north side of Valley Green Drive at Beardon Drive. ISSUES: Appearance of proposed exterior staircase added to south elevation after Use Permit approval -- Acceptable to ASAC if properly screened. Fascia band extended from south to west elevation, and window size on west elevation reduced per ASAC suggestion. Architectural enhancement of north elevation not indicated. ASAC directed addition of wood band at second story level, and required negotiation to provide offsite landscaping. DECISION: BY UNANIMOUS VOTE, RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF APPLICATION ASAC 22-U-88 ACCORDING TO THE FINDINGS AND CONDITIONS OF RESOLUTION NO. 1424. ITEM6) APPLICATION ASAC 51.818.1 SERVICE MERCHANDISE (MARDESICHI Requesting approval of siting for roof mounted installation of a satellite dish antenna system. The site is the anchor tenant building within the easterly portion of the Crossroads Shopping Center. (20558 Stevens Creek Blvd.) ISSUES: - Adequacy of screening for antenna device itself -- possibly exacerbated visual effects from proposed screening fabric. Staff to determine if fabric screening necessary; may delete if ineffective or causes greater impacts than visibility of antenna alone DECISION: BY UNANIMOUS OOF APPLICATION 8 1 ACCORDING TO THEE FINDINGS AND CONDITIONS NOTED IN RESOLUTION NO. 1424. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: ITEM7) MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 12._ 1988: Approved as corrected.
