AMENDED SPECIAL NOTICE OF VACANCY
Notice is hereby given that the City of Cupertino is accepting applications for one
unscheduled vacancy on the Parks and Recreation Commission. The vacancy occurred
when Commissioner David Fung resigned. The (partial) term of this unscheduled
vacancy expires 1/30/19. The application deadline is 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 10,
2017. Council will conduct interviews beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21.
The Commission consists of five members who are residents of the City and shall be
appointed by the Council to four-year, overlapping terms. None of the members shall
be officials or employees of the City, nor cohabit with as defined by law, nor be related
by blood or marriage to any member of the Commission, the City Manager or the staff
person(s) assigned to this Commission. The Parks and Recreation Commission falls
under the Political Reform Act of 1974 and financial disclosure is required. The primary
powers and functions are to advise the City Council on municipal activities in relation
to parks and recreation, including park site acquisition and development, recreation
program policy, and expansion of the park program as development occurs (refer to
Municipal Code Ch. 2.36.080 for full description).
