It is governed by the five -member City Council with the Mayor as the presiding officer. City Council members are elected at -large to four-year, overlapping terms. Each November a mayor and a vice -mayor are selected by the City Council for a one- yearterm. The City Council receives advice and assistance from eleven advisory bodies, which are appointed by the Council.
