RESOLUTION NO. 1054
OF THE ARCHITECTURAL AND SITE APPROVAL COMMITTEE
OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF
TWO SIGN EXCEPTIONS, ONE TO PERMIT A GROUND SIGN ON
A SITE WITH 60 FT. OF STREET FRONTAGE AND ONE TO
PERMIT AN OFF -SITE IDENTIFICATION SIGN.
PROPERTY OWNER: Sobrato Development Company
APPLICANT: Bridge Communications, Inc.
ADDRESS: 10440 Bubb Road, Cupertino, CA 95014
LOCATION OF PROPERTY: East side of Bubb Road approximately 550 ft. north of
McClellan Road (10420/10440 Bubb Road).

FINDINGS:
The Architectural and Site Approval Committee finds as follows with respect to this
application:
1. A ground sign is justified despite the small street frontage for the
following reasons:
a. The applicant has 270 ft. of frontage along the common driveway
serving Nitron, Bridge Communications, and Zilog. If one were
to consider this as street frontage, the applicant would have in
excess of the 200 ft. required.
b. The applicant's only alternative to a ground sign is a building -mounted
sign. This would not provide adequate identification. Motorists
would see the prominently displayed Zilog sign at the driveway entry
and miss the Nitron sign on the building. Therefore, a ground sign is
the only alternative available which offers sufficient identification.
2. An off -site sign is justified for Bridge Communications for the following
reasons:
a. Bridge Communications property fronts on McClellan Road but the entry
is from Bubb Road. In addition, the Zilog and Nitron buildings block
visibility of the Bridge Communications building from Bubb Road.
b. Bridge Communciations will not generate an independent ground sign, but will
share a sign with Nitron.
CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL:
1-7. Architectural and Site Approval Standard Conditions to the extent that they
do not conflict with the special conditions enumerated herein. In the event
a conflict does exist, the special conditions as enumerated herein shall apply.
8. The recommendation of approval is based upon Exhibits A and A-1 of this
application except as may be amended by special conditions contained herein.
9. The sign's location is subject to the approval of the City's Traffic Engineer.
10. The background color of both companies' panels shall be the same.

Architectural and Site Approval Committee of the City of Cupertino, State
of California, by the following roll call vote:
