PROPERTY OWNER: Byer Properties APPLICANT: Gene Barbour/Ad-Art Electrical Products Corporation ADDRESS: 1607 Terminal Avenue, San Jose, CA 95112 LOCATION OF PROPERTY: South side of Stevens Creek Boulevard, approximately 600 ft. west of De Anza Boulevard (Mervyn's half of Crossroads Center). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FINDINGS: The Architectural and Site Approval Committee finds as follows with respect to this application: 1. The proposed ground sign is consistent with Sign Ordinance No. 746. 2. Emphasizing "Mervyn's" over "Cupertino Crossroads" and renaming the center "Mervyn's Cupertino Crossroads" is acceptable for the following reasons: a. The center is commonly known as "Mervyn's" already; b. Mervyn's is the major tenant, and; c. The center is very large. 3. The 20 ft. height of the ground sign is justified due to the excessive street frontage (approximately 650 ft.) occupied by the center. CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL: 1-7. Architectural and Site Approval Standard Conditions to the extent that they do not conflict with the special conditions enumerated herein. In the event a conflict does exist, the special conditions as enumerated herein shall apply. 8. The recommendation of approval is based upon Exhibit A-1 of this application except as may be amended by special conditions contained herein. 9. The proposed time and temperature units shall be constructed with internal circuits prohibiting the rapid flashing of information displayed. In addition, a "traveling" message is prohibited. 10. The sign's location is subject to the approval of the City Traffic Engineer. 11. The center's street number(s) shall be incorporated into the ground sign. 12. The background of the time and temperature unit shall be brown. 13. The sign's height shall not exceed 20 ft. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - 1 - Resolution No. 1052 HC -51,015.21 PASSED AND ADOPTED this 23rd day of May, 1983, at a regular meeting of the Architectural and Site Approval Committee of the City of Cupertino, State of California, by the following roll call vote: AYES: Committee Members: Miller, Morrison and Chairperson Nobel NAYS: " " None ABSTAIN: ti Higdon ABSENT: tt Rooker ATTEST: Sonia Binnendyk Planner I APPROVED: Deborah Nobel, Chairperson Architectural and Site Approval Committee - 2 --
