Orders from the Santa Clara County Public Health Department
and the City of Cupertino
•The Santa Clara County Public Health Department has extended its Shelter-in-Place
Order to May 31, 2020. This new Order went into effect at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday,
May 3, 2020, and remains in effect until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2020,
unless the Health Officer amends or extends it. All residents must comply with

order at SCCgov.org/Covid19.
•The City of Cupertino issued an Emergency Order requiring the use of face

Community Resources
•West Valley Community Services is offering financial assistance and food support for households
impacted by COVID-19. If you or anyone you know has been affected by schools and/or business
closures, loss of jobs or hourly earnings, or are now taking care of dependent older adults amidst
the COVID-19 pandemic, contact West Valley Community Services. For more information, referrals,
and services, email recert@wvcommunityservices.org or call (408) 366-6092. All appointments and
consultations will be done by phone or video.
•The City of Cupertino continues to receive messages from residents regarding homeless encampments
within Cupertino. Homeless encampments cannot be broken up unless individual housing units are
identified, according to CDC guidelines. The CDC states: “Clearing encampments can cause people
to disperse throughout the community and break connections with service providers. This increases the
potential for infectious disease spread.” Due to this guidance, the County of Santa Clara has exempted
the homeless in its Shelter-in-Place Order.
•The Cupertino Historical Society and Museum is calling on the community to help document life in
Cupertino during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Historical Society and Museum has been collecting
and archiving Cupertino’s past since 1966, and has a collection of over 5,000 tools, graphics, books,
artifacts, and more. Today, as we are living through a historically notable time, the Historical Society
and Museum wants to hear stories from the Cupertino community.
