OF THE ARCHITECIURAL AND SITE APPROVAL CL1 II'ITEE
OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO ESTABLISHING CRITERIA
FOR EVAJLUATING THE CONSISTENCY OF EXCEPTION
REQUESTS WITH THE INTENT OF URGENCY ORDINANCE NO. 1438
SECTION 1: The Architectural and Site Approval Committee hereby
establishes the following criteria for evaluating requests for exceptions
from Urgency Ordinance No. 1438. These criteria are intended to provide
guidance in determining the consistency of such requests with the intent
of Ordinance No. 1438, as stated in Section A of said Ordinance.
1. Proposed hares or additions should be compatible with existing
nearby structures. Compatibility can be achieved through similar
size or setbacks, landscaping, architectural design, or other means.
2. The impact of grade differentials on perceived building mass may be
considered when evaluating exception requests.
3. Exceptions should represent the least deviation from the Ordinance's
requirements necessary to address the identified problem.
SECTION 2: The Architectural and Site Approval Caratittee hereby states
its intent to NOT consider the following factors when evaluating requests
for exceptions fran Urgency Ordinance No. 1438.
1. The Committee, shall not consider building materials, color, or
design details. Review shall be limited to factors pertaining to
height, mass, and setbacks.
2. Exceptions shall not be granted based on excessive costs,
preparation of plans prior to adoption of the Ordinance, or lack of
knowledge of the Ordinance.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 22nd day of February, 1988 at a regular meeting of
the Architectural and Site Approval C mmittee of the City of Cupertino,
State of California, by the following roll call vote:
