HomeMy WebLinkAboutASAC Reso 1350ASAC 51,766.1 RESOLUTION NO. 1350 OF THE ARCHITECTURAL AND SITE APPROVAL CCHNITIEE OF THE CITY OF CUPERTINO APPROVING A SIGN PROGRAM FOR A NEW HOTEL APPLICANT: Marriott Courtyard PROPERTY OWNER: Vallco Properties APPLICANT'S ADDRESS: Hwy 280 and Wolfe Road Cupertino, CA 95014 PROTECT LOCATION: Hwy 280 and Wolfe Road FINDINGS: The Architectural and Site Approval Committee finds as follows with regard to this application: 1. The sign program as conditioned is consistent with the intent of Sign ordinance provisions pertaining to cormnercial signage. 2. The Wolfe Road ground sign height is justified given the following factors: a. Sign is intended to direct travelers unfamiliar with the Cupertino area to the site location. b. Wolfe Road posted speed limit is 35 miles per hour and street width is 120 feet; maneuvering to iste's indirect access is difficult without sufficient advance warning of the site location. c. Wign will be located in a grove of existing and future Redwood trees. Sign height is mitigated insofar as the trees will provide a tall backgrop for the sign. CONDITIONS: 1-8) Standard Architectural and Site Approval Committee conditions to the extent that they do not conflict with the special conditions listed herein. In the event of conflict, the specific conditions listed herein shall prevail. 9) Approval is based upon Exhibit F-1 of Application ASAC 51,766.1 except as may be amended by conditions enumerated herein. 10) The building mounted sign on the south elevation shall be placed below the height of the first story; the southerly face of the monument sign at the northwest corner of the site shall be eliminated. 11) The "next left" message panel on the Wolfe Road frontage monument sign shall be placed only on the southerly surface of the supporting column.
