WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the accomplishments of the Monta Vista Naval Robotics Team in recognition of their successful entry into the International Autonomous
Underwater Vehicle Competition at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis; and
WHEREAS, the Monta Vista Naval Robotics Team competed against 11 other teams representing one other high school and ten colleges including MIT, Cornell and Duke; and
WHEREAS, the Monta Vista Naval Robotics Team consists of ten very dedicated and remarkable students who have developed an underwater robot to compete in international competition; and
WHEREAS, the effectiveness and simple design of the Monta Vista Naval Robotics Team submarine with its ability to complete tasks that much more sophisticated and expensive submarines
could not earned the team special recognition and the “Bang for the Buck Award.”
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Mayor Sandra James, and the Cupertino City Council, do hereby commend and recognize the
Monta Vista Naval Robotics Team
for its accomplishments during this year’s International Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Competition and for the example this team has made for the community and people of Cupertino with
their fortitude and perseverance.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Monday, August Twenty, Two Thousand and One.
