WHEREAS, on Monday, August Twenty, Two Thousand and One, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Vincent LaPorta K6TEN, for his outstanding contributions to the safety of our children,
families and community; and
WHEREAS, Vince helped found the Cupertino Amateur Radio Emergency Service (CARES) group in Nineteen Eighty-Eight and is still an active member, participating in both city and county
wide communications activities; and
WHEREAS, Vince has constantly improved the City’s amateur radio response capability by installing antennas at strategic sites throughout the city thus ensuring that all areas of the
city could be contacted in the event of an emergency; and
WHEREAS, Vince contributes hundreds of hours of volunteer service to the City of Cupertino Service Center, Office of Emergency Services and Cupertino Amateur Radio Emergency Service;
and
WHEREAS, Vince’s technical knowledge and expertise in the area of electronics and radios has been invaluable to the Service Center as he keeps city radio communications operational by
installing wiring and antennas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Mayor Sandra James, and the Cupertino City Council, do hereby commend and recognize
Vincent LaPorta K6TEN
for his dedication and remarkable contributions to the community as demonstrated by his tireless work to keep the city “one step ahead.”
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Monday, August Twenty, Two Thousand and One.
