HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 HP Proclamation - Word - 03.29.2001PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, on Saturday, March 31, Two Thousand and One, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Hewlett Packard at a gathering of the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce, to honor them for their outstanding contributions to the city, community and people of Cupertino; and WHEREAS, in 1968 Hewlett Packard purchased land in Cupertino consisting of two buildings surrounded by prune, apricot, and walnut trees. Today, HP occupies over 99 acres in Cupertino with 14 buildings; and WHEREAS, the five thousand employees at the Cupertino HP site, reflect the ideals of Dave Packard and Bill Hewlett by volunteering and supporting local charities and schools. Local employees contribute to the city in many different ways including serving on boards, committees, school site councils, and chamber programs; and WHEREAS, Hewlett Packard has been a stalwart supporter of education and schools enabling Cupertino Union School District to improve the science curriculum and to enhance the development in teaching science. NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that Mayor Sandra James, and the City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize Hewlett Packard For creating a stronger community for the businesses and people of Cupertino. IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Friday, March 31, Two Thousand and One. ________________________ Sandra James, Mayor
