WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the accomplishments of Laura Auch on the occasion of her being an Disney’s America Teacher Award Honoree for 2001, along with fellow
teacher Maureen Ortiz, and
WHEREAS, Laura Auch and Maureen Ortiz were selected from 110,000 nominated teaches for their work at the Phoenix High School Program located at Cupertino High School, and
WHEREAS, Laura and Maureen have worked together since 1989. Together they have provided outstanding education for at-risk students by providing personal attention and a quality curriculum,
and
WHEREAS, Laura’s professional excellence is exemplified by her excellent rapport with her students. Her enthusiasm and commitment are exemplified by the example she sets for her students
and the many opportunities she provides her students to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Mayor Richard Lowenthal, and the Cupertino City Council, do hereby commend and recognize
Laura Auch
on occasion of her receipt of the Disney American Teacher Award and for the remarkable example she has made for the community and people of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Monday, December Three, Two Thousand and One.
