WHEREAS, on September Twenty-First and Twenty-Second, Two
Thousand and Two, the City of Cupertino honors the Foshan Folk
Art Research Institute; and
WHEREAS, the Foshan was one of four towns in ancient China
famous for its flourishing handicraft industry; and
WHEREAS, the Foshan Folk Art Research Institute is a special
institution for researching and developing traditional Foshan folk
art; and
WHEREAS, the Foshan Folk Art Research Institute has made an
important contribution to cross-cultural communications as an
important participant in the fourth annual Silicon Valley Moon
Festival.
NOW, therefore, I, Mayor Richard Lowenthal, and the
Cupertino City Council, do hereby recognize and commend the
Foshan Folk Art Research Institute
for the very highest artist standards and for its cultural
contributions to the people, community and city of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereto set my hand and caused the
seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Twentieth day of
September, 2002.
