WHEREAS, the members of Optomist International, and especially the Optomist Clubs of Cupertino, have been active in promoting civic and social activities for the many fine young men
and women in our communities; and
WHEREAS, the vast majority of our young people are hard working, responsible citizens who do not receive the recognition they deserve; and
WHEREAS, the youth of today will be our leaders tomorrow and need the encouragement and experience offered by organizations such as the Optomist Club.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Mayor Richard Lowenthal, and the Cupertino City Council, do hereby proclaim the week of November 17 through 23 as
Youth Appreciation Week in Cupertino
And urge all citizens to reflect upon the positive qualities of youth in our community and support local organizations working to encourage youth activities.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Monday, November 18, Two Thousand and Two.
