WHEREAS, the city of Cupertino recognizes that thousands of local men and women have served in the Armed Forces, protecting and preserving the freedoms all Americans enjoy; and
WHEREAS, on Veteran's pay we honor all those who have served in our Armed Forces, and we remember with deep respect those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom; and
WHEREAS, to our Nation's veterans, we must keep standing for the ideals for which they fought and for which they died; to keep strengthening the alliances they forged, to keep taking
risks for peace; to keep faith with those who struggle for human rights, the rule of law and a better life.
NOW, therefore, I, Mayor Richard Lowenthal, and the Cupertino City Council do hereby hereby proclaim and recognize November 11, 2002 as
Veteran’s Day
to honor our veterans, who proved their heroism and love of country time and again, from Yorktown and Gettysburg to Iwo lima and the Persian Gulf.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Fourth day of November, 2002.
