WHEREAS, on Saturday, March Nine, Two Thousand and Two, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Linda Walker, at a gathering of the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce, in recognition of
their outstanding contributions to the city, community and people of Cupertino; and
WHEREAS, Linda has a remarkable record of community service that spans several decades and includes: Active membership in the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce since 1988. Linda’s long list
of include but are not limited to, Cupertino National Little League Auxiliary President, American Youth, Soccer League Head Coach, Kennedy Junior High Soccer Coach, Santa Clara County
Women’s Golf Association President, Cupertino Community Services President, Cupertino Educational Endowment Foundation Board Member for over 10 years; and
WHEREAS, with a strong commitment for the community, Linda has actively supported many causes having worked for Cupertino Educational Endowment Foundation Board Member for over 10 years,
Youth Science Institute President, Cupertino Inner Wheel President and District Chairman, Northwest YMCA Current Support Campaigner, and Rotary District Conference Secretary and much
more; and
WHEREAS, over the years, Linda has been honored with numerous awards including: the City of Cupertino CREST Award, Sertoma Club’s Service to Mankind Award, JC Penney Co.’s Golden Rule
Award, Cupertino Community Services Golden Soup Can Award, Cupertino Union School District’s Apple Award, and Cupertino Union School District’s Merit Feather Award.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that Mayor Richard Lowenthal, and the City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
Linda Walker, as Citizen of the Year
For creating a stronger community for the city and people of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Friday, March Eight, Two Thousand and Two.

Linda Walker was born and raised in Belmont, California. She moved with
her husband, Jim, and family to Cupertino in 1978. A long-time civic
leader, Linda has a remarkable record of community service that spans
several decades and includes: Active membership in the Cupertino Chamber
of Commerce since 1988 (serving on the Art & Wine Festival Committee,
Citizen of the Year Committee, and Membership Drive Committee),
Cupertino National Little League Auxiliary President, American Youth
Soccer League Head Coach, Kennedy Junior High Soccer Coach, Santa Clara
County Women’s Golf Association President, Cupertino Community Services
President, Cupertino Educational Endowment Foundation Board Member for
over 10 years, Youth Science Institute President, Cupertino Inner Wheel
President and District Chairman, Northwest YMCA Current Support
Campaigner, and Rotary District Conference Secretary and much more.
