WHEREAS, on Saturday, January Twelfth, Two Thousand and Two, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Chief Douglas Sporleder at a gathering in his honor, for his outstanding contributions
the people, community and City of Cupertino; and
WHEREAS, Chief Sporleder has been the Fire Chief of the Santa Clara County Fire Department since 1980. Chief Sporleder has been involved in a variety of organizations and issues and
has raised the high standards of the department and has built goodwill with the communities that he served; and
WHEREAS, Chief Sporleder has been a profoundly effective advocate for increasing collaboration with the city of Cupertino. His vision and support for programs for youth include Operation
Outreach, and Every 15 Minutes; and
WHEREAS, Chief Sporleder’s support for innovative programs will have a profound impact on the City of Cupertino for many years. His support for Cupertino Community Services’ affordable
housing project in conjunction with the new Cupertino fire station, will help needy families for years to come.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that Mayor Richard Lowenthal, and the Cupertino City Council, do hereby commend and recognize
Douglas Sporleder
For creating better and a stronger community for the people and City of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, January Twelfth, Two Thousand and Two.
