HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 Neighborhood Watch Proclamation - Word - 04.15.2002PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the Nancy Court Neighborhood Watch; and WHEREAS, the Neighborhood Watch Program trains neighbors to look out for one another thereby building community and reducing the risk of being a crime victim; and WHEREAS, on April Second, 2002 at 10:45 A.M., a Nancy Court resident and neighborhood watch member saw a suspect open and enter an unlocked vehicle in his neighbor's driveway. He called the neighbor who in turn called 911. At the same time another neighbor on her morning walk happened upon the situation and also alerted her neighbor. Thanks to their alertness, the suspect fled the scene after taking only loose change from the console of the car; and WHEREAS, this street recently held a neighborhood watch meeting and had a 73% participation rate. NOW, therefore, I, Mayor Richard Lowenthal, and the Cupertino City Council, do hereby recognize and commend Nick Rottler for his participation in the Neighborhood Watch Program and for the example that he has made for the community and people of Cupertino.
