HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 Fuller Retirement Proclamation - Word - 09.19.2002PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, since 1971, the City of Cupertino and the County of Santa Clara have collaborated to provide library services to the residents of Cupertino. The public library has grown with the community and has continued to provide a vital educational resource for thousands of residents and visitors of all ages; and, WHEREAS, in 1988, the City of Cupertino invested in a major expansion of the library facility. The library has grown in more than just size and circulation, the library provides a state of the art online catalogue as well as free internet access; and, WHEREAS, over the last three years the Santa Clara County Library system has been ranked in the top ten library systems serving populations from 250,000 to 500,000. For the year 2000, Hennen’s American Public Library Rating Index has rated the Santa Clara County Free Library as the first in its class. Working with the City of Cupertino and the Friends of the Cupertino Library, the Cupertino Library has continued to expand its services and collection to meet the changing demands of the community. NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that Mayor Sandra James, and the Cupertino City Council, do hereby commend and recognize the Cupertino Library for the outstanding services it provides and in recognition of the important role this institution plays in creating a better community for the children, the families and the people of Cupertino.
