WHEREAS, on the month of September, Two Thousand and Three, the City of Cupertino wishes to support the Asian American Recovery Services, Inc. (AARS, Inc.) in the group’s work to provide
substance abuse treatment; and
WHEREAS, mental disorders and physical illnesses as a result of substance abuse are major public health problems affecting the residents and the financial resources of the state of California;
and
WHEREAS, I invite all residents of this state to participate in the National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month to celebrate the success of many of the residents in our city who
area working toward or have achieved their recovery goals.
NOW, therefore, I, Mayor Michael Chang, and the Cupertino City Council, do hereby proclaim and recognize the month of September, 2003 as
National Alcohol and Drug Addiction
Recovery Month
and encourage the citizens of Cupertino to support the work of CALA in restoring fairness and balance in our civil justice system.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this month of September, 2003.
