WHEREAS, On September 11, 2001, America was deliberately attacked. We remember the tragedy of that day. We remember the images of fire, and the courage of rescuers who saw death and
did not flee; and,
WHEREAS, we remember the many good lives that ended too soon. We remember the families left behind to carry a burden of sorrow. Our community joins together to remember those who were
lost, and for their loved ones; and,
WHEREAS, since that day, our community has prayed for the brave men and women of public safety who are serving our community, 24-hours-a-day. They have answered a great call, and our
city is grateful for their courage and dedication.
WHEREAS, We recognize the profound and important service made by these individuals and the sacrifice made by their families.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Mayor Sandra James, and the Cupertino City Council, do hereby commend and recognize the men and women of the
Santa Clara County
Sheriff’s Department
on this third anniversary of September 11th, we feel the depth of gratitude, a unity of grief and a unity of resolve for those who serve our community by putting their lives on the line.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the city of Cupertino to be affixed this Monday, September Twentieth, Two Thousand and Four.
