WHEREAS, the Northwest YMCA of Cupertino and the non-profit Qigong Institute of Menlo Park, CA are sponsoring a World Tai Chi and Qigong Day event at the Northwest YMCA in Cupertino
on Saturday, April 30, 2005; and,
WHEREAS, this free event is open to the public where people will learn easy yet powerful practices to help maintain and improve their health; and,
WHEREAS, World Tai Chi and Qigong Day was started eight years ago by Bill Douglas, as a way to introduce people to the profound healing and health maintenance benefits of Tai Chi and
Qigong; and,
WHEREAS, the event has grown into a worldwide phenomena, practiced in virtually every country that begins at 10 a.m. in the earliest time zone on April 30th, and flows as a gentle wave
across the entire planet; and,
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that I, Mayor Patrick Kwok, and the City Council of Cupertino, do hereby declare Saturday, April 30 as
World Tai Chi and Qigong Day
in recognition of the profound teachings and health advocated by practitioners of Tai Chi and Qigong to the people, families and community of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Tuesday, April 5, Two Thousand and Five.
