HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 REPUBCHI Proclamation - Word - 09.23.2005PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, The City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the anniversary of the independence of he People’s Republic of China; and WHEREAS, Chinese people throughout the city and the state celebrate this special event, which took place on October 1, 1949, and involved many heroic men and women who fought for a government “for the people, by the people and of the people;” and WHEREAS, since achieving its establishment, the People’s Republic of China has become the most populous nation in the world, ranks as the third largest country in area, and has one of the largest foreign trade volumes in the global economy; and WHEREAS, the cultural and economic vitality and innovation of Cupertino is a direct result of an active and involved Chinese community. NOW, THEREFORE, as mayor of Cupertino, I do hereby recognize October First as People’s Republic of China National Day and urge all Cupertino residents to celebrate this historical day with appropriate festivities and recognition. IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Twenty-fifth day of September 2005. ________________________ Patrick S. Kwok, Mayor
