WHEREAS, on May Third, Two Thousand and Five, Newsweek Magazine published its list of the one thousand top secondary schools in the United States; and
WHEREAS, public schools on this list are ranked according to a ratio of the number of Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate tests taken by all students at a school in 2004
divided by the number of graduating seniors; and
WHEREAS, in Two Thousand and Three, Monta Vista had ranked eighty-eighth in the nation, according to the most recent list, Monta Vista now ranks fifty-seventh among the nation’s 27,468
public high schools.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cupertino City Council enthusiastically acknowledges
Monta Vista High School
and the diligent effort of the many remarkable people that have contributed to the educational excellence of this high school and community.
UNANIMOUSLY PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Cupertino, the Seventh day of June, Two Thousand and Five.
