WHEREAS, each year, one week before Thanksgiving, the National Coalition for the Homeless and the National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness co-sponsor Hunger and Homelessness
Awareness Week; and
WHEREAS, Emergency Housing Consortium (EHC) is participating with numerous agencies in planning educational, fundraising and volunteer activities that will raise awareness about these
challenges in Santa Clara County; and
WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino is committed to assist the homeless and hungry with necessary human services, temporary shelter and affordable housing both directly and through support
of nonprofit housing and social service agencies; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Mayor Patrick Kwok, and the City Council of the City of Cupertino does hereby proclaim November 13 - 19, 2005 as
HUNGER AND HOMELESSNESS AWARENESS WEEK
in the city of Cupertino and call upon our community to be generous in their volunteer efforts and financial support of programs seeking to end hunger and homelessness.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Fifteenth day of November, Two-Thousand and Five.
