WHEREAS, the city of Cupertino wishes to recognize Santa Clara County Supervisor Liz Kniss, for exceptional public service to the people, families, and community of Cupertino; and
WHEREAS, following the passage of Proposition 13 and the subsequent realignment of property taxes, the city of Cupertino received less than the seven percent share of property tax allotted
to all but four cities in the state; and
WHEREAS, Liz has been a vigorous supporter of the city of Cupertino’s efforts for Tax Equity Allocation with the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors and the state legislature; and
WHEREAS, Liz has demonstrated true leadership that will directly improve services to her constituents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Mayor Richard Lowenthal, and the Cupertino City Council, do hereby commend and recognize
Supervisor Liz Kniss
for her leadership, perseverance, and significant contributions to the city of Cupertino as demonstrated by her successful efforts in support of the passage of Assembly Bill 117.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Tuesday, December 5, 2006.
