WHEREAS, on Tuesday, September Twenty-Fifth, Two Thousand and Seven, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Foothill-De Anza Community College District’s 50th anniversary; and
WHEREAS, in the mid-1950s school superintendents and trustees saw the need for a junior college to serve the booming population of students in Palo Alto, Mountain View, Los Altos Hills,
Cupertino and Sunnyvale; and
WHEREAS, the district serves more than 44,000 students each fall and is regarded as an educational leader in both the state and nation; and
WHEREAS, the district has been dedicated since its inception to providing opportunity, excellence and innovation for the benefit of all students.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby recognize
Foothill-De Anza Community College District’s
50th Anniversary
for its distinguished record of service to students and the community for the past 50 years.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Tuesday, September Twenty-Fifth, Two Thousand and Seven.
