WHEREAS, the city of Cupertino wishes to recognize the Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) as it celebrates the annual observation of Buddha’s birthday in May; and
WHEREAS, BLIA is a non-sectarian organization that works closely with members of Buddhist temples, colleges, scholastic organizations, lay practitioner associations, and meditation groups,
to spread joy among people, and help to instill the virtue of compassion; and
WHEREAS, BLIA places great emphasis on social services and the preservation of nature and the environment as well as being instrumental in planting about 20 millions trees in Taiwan;
and
WHEREAS, BLIA has shown a commitment to people everywhere and has served as a contributing member of our community.
NOW, therefore, the Cupertino City Council and Mayor do hereby congratulate and recognize
Buddha’s Light International Association
and offer our most sincere good wishes for continued success in all of its future endeavors.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this 20th day of May 2007.
