WHEREAS, on Wednesday, May Twenty-First, Two Thousand and Eight, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize James G. Walker; and
WHEREAS, James G. Walker, “Jim”, has been an active member and volunteer with the YMCA since the late 1980s; and
WHEREAS, Jim founded “Make a Difference Day” in 1991 at the Northwest branch, a program that continues as the largest volunteer-led facility improvement program in the association; and
WHEREAS, Jim led the Northwest branch through two capital campaigns and is active in the current Metropolitan Capital Campaign to rebuild Camp Campbell; and
WHEREAS, Jim created the Cupertino Community Blood Drive, which partnered twenty service organizations and the YMCA for an annual blood drive at the YMCA for the past fifteen years.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
James G. Walker
as YMCA Crummey Award Winner of the Year and for creating a stronger community for the people of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Wednesday, May Twenty-First, Two Thousand and Eight.
