WHEREAS, on Wednesday, May Twenty-First, Two Thousand and Eight, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Dhruv Garg, an active member and volunteer with the Northwest YMCA since 2004;
and
WHEREAS, Dhruv has coached children in the fundamentals of basketball, teamwork, and sportsmanship for the last three and a half years while supervising league games and refereeing basketball
games; and
WHEREAS, to improve his skills, Dhruv took psychology classes at De Anza College and earned professional certification as a ‘Double-Goal’ coach from the Positive Coaching Alliance in
addition to a Professional Trainer certification from American Red Cross; and
WHEREAS, Dhruv has built strong relationships with parents, students, and volunteers while focusing not only on winning, but also on ingraining positive values of teamwork, respect,
positive personality and honesty in K-5 students; and
WHEREAS, recently, Dhruv also undertook a new project to implement an online blog to communicate information that will help make the YMCA basketball community more closely knit.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
Dhruv Garg
as Teen Volunteer of the Year at the Northwest YMCA and for creating a stronger community for the people of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Wednesday, May Twenty-First, Two Thousand and Eight.
