HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 The Art Institute of CA- Sunnyvale Proclamation - Word - 07.22.2008PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, on Thursday, July Thirty-First, Two Thousand and Eight, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize The Art Institute of California – Sunnyvale; and WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino strongly promotes higher education options and opportunities for our youth and adults; and WHEREAS, on July 31, 2008, The Art Institute of California – Sunnyvale celebrates its grand opening to create a new opportunity for students to obtain creative arts education; and WHEREAS, The Art Institutes, with over 40 education institutions across North America, is an important source of culinary arts, media arts, fashion, and design professionals and has a proven track record of success; and WHEREAS, The Art Institutes are licensed by the state, are authorized to award diplomas, and associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees, and are accredited by one or more independent accrediting agencies recognized by the Department of Education; and WHEREAS, the school’s faculty members are not only skilled instructors, but also trained professionals in their fields and many faculty members have extensive industry experience and academic qualifications; and WHEREAS, The Art Institute of California – Sunnyvale offers a broad range of creative arts degree programs including culinary arts, culinary management, digital filmmaking & video production, fashion marketing & management, graphic design, interior design and web design & interactive media; and WHEREAS, The Art Institutes graduates are employed by companies and organizations of all types and size, including some of the most prominent companies in the United States; and WHEREAS, in addition to career oriented education, The Art Institutes integrate volunteer opportunities into their programs and each year, more than 5,000 students donate more than a quarter of a million hours to aid local nonprofit organizations; and WHEREAS, The Art Institute of California – Sunnyvale will enhance Cupertino’s creative talent, positively impact the economy and benefit our employers and residents. NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby proclaim July 31 as “Art Institute of CA-Sunnyvale” Day and thank The Art Institute for all their hard work, dedication, and creating many opportunities for the people in our community.
