WHEREAS, on Tuesday, April Fifteenth, Two Thousand and Eight, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Shredding Day in Cupertino; and
WHEREAS, to prevent identity theft and to promote recycling, the city of Cupertino is holding a free paper shredding event for residents; and
WHEREAS, confidential documents brought to the event will be destroyed with in-truck shredders; and
WHEREAS, this year’s Shredding Event will be held on Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to noon at the plaza between the Cupertino Library and City Hall; and
WHEREAS, this is the fourth year Shred-It, a mobile on-site document destruction company, is providing services to Cupertino at no cost; and
WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino recognizes that shredding paper is good for the environment by reducing our landfill amount; and
WHEREAS, privacy theft occurs when important papers are simply thrown in the garbage or recycle bin.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby declare April Twenty-Sixth as
Shredding Day
in Cupertino and urge all citizens to recognize and participate in its observance.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Tuesday, April Fifteenth, Two Thousand and Eight.
