WHEREAS, on Saturday, April Twenty-Sixth, Two Thousand and Eight, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Shred-It; and
WHEREAS, this is Shred-It’s fourth year of free service to the Cupertino community; and
WHEREAS, this year’s Shredding Event will be held on Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to noon at the City Hall Plaza; and
WHEREAS, about 14,250 lbs. were collected in 2007, up from 6,080 lbs. during the first year the program was offered, approximately a 230% increase; and
WHEREAS, Cupertino saved the paper-equivalent of 72 trees by recycling just in the year 2007; and
WHEREAS, the City of Cupertino recognizes that shredding paper is good for the environment by reducing our landfill amount; and
WHEREAS, privacy theft occurs when important papers are simply thrown in the garbage or recycle bin.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
Shred-It
for providing quality and invaluable service and working effectively and efficiently to ensure the privacy of Cupertino residents is maintained.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, April Twenty-Sixth, Two Thousand and Eight.
