HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 Ricci Institute Proclamation - Word - 05.07.2008PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, on Wednesday, May Seventh, Two Thousand and Eight, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the Ricci Institute; and WHEREAS, the Ricci Institute was named after the 16th-century Jesuit missionary Matteo Ricci; and WHEREAS, the research collection contains the tools needed to study traditional Chinese civilization; and WHEREAS, the founder Matteo Ricci, approached his studies in the spirit of friendship and mutual respect; and WHEREAS, the institute is hosting a reception and art show in the city of Cupertino in celebration of Chinese heritage during Asian Pacific American Heritage Month; and WHEREAS, the city of Cupertino has a rich cultural connection with people of Chinese descent. NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize the Ricci Institute for their outstanding work, dedication, and creating a stronger community for the people of Cupertino. IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Wednesday, May Seventh, Two Thousand and Eight. ________________________ Dolly Sandoval, Mayor
