HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 International Women's Day Proclamation - Word - 03.06.2008PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, on Saturday, March Eighth, Two Thousand and Eight, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize International Women’s Day at an event held at De Anza College Flint Center; and WHEREAS, the event features an outstanding and distinguished group of international women from our community, from politicians to poets, from teachers to dancers; and WHEREAS, an impressive lineup of guest speakers and performance artists will discuss the issues that concern women and human rights; and WHEREAS, guests include Honorable California Senator Elaine Alquist, Honorable Judge Erica Yew, Dr. Homa Mahmoudi, GFWC President Elect Vicki Olden, and District FWC President Elect Kathryn Fragulia; and WHEREAS, it will be a day for women from different ethnic communities to network, learn about local and international women’s human rights issues, and grow from cultural and artistic expression. NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby recognize International Women’s Day a day to commend and show appreciation to all female role models who have had a positive impact on our community. IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, March Eighth, Two Thousand and Eight. ________________________ Dolly Sandoval, Mayor
