WHEREAS, on Saturday, September Thirteen, Two Thousand and Eight, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Hui Ilima of Santa Clara County on the occasion of its 50th Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Hui Ilima was founded in 1958 by Leilani Acosta, Richard and Gerdie Domain and is the oldest Hawaiian Club in Northern California; and
WHEREAS, Hui Ilima is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization of former Hawaii residents now living in the Bay Area; and
WHEREAS, the Hui Ilima mission is to promote the “Aloha Spirit” and appreciation of the Hawaiian Culture; and
WHEREAS, Hui Ilima has not only been a vital participant in the cultural wealth of our city, but has also been an active supporter of numerous nonprofits helping young and old in our
community.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby recognize
Hui Ilima
of Santa Clara County
and congratulate and thank the organization and its many members for sharing the Aloha Spirit with the community, families, and people of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, September Thirteen, Two Thousand and Eight.
