WHEREAS, on Tuesday, March Eighteenth, Two Thousand and Eight, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the Homestead High School Future Business Leaders of America (HHSFBLA); and
WHEREAS, for the 2007-2008 HHSFBLA Community Service Project they chose to help with the restoration of McClellan Ranch Park; and
WHEREAS, they held a recycling drive at Nimitz Elementary School in order to raise money to purchase supplies to paint the tresses/fence poles of the McClellan Ranch animal shed and
educational classroom and after enough money was raised, thirty-three HHSFBLA members helped paint McClellan Ranch; and
WHEREAS, during the beginning of December, they went to Borders bookstore to do holiday gift wrapping, so they could raise funds to contribute to McClellan Ranch Park; and
WHEREAS, they went back to McClellan Ranch to do some invasive weed removal around the park building and re-spread the tanbark on the community garden trails; and
WHEREAS, they hosted Work-It-2-Win-It Day at McClellan Ranch where over 50 volunteer and FBLA members showed up to help restore McClellan Ranch Park; and
WHEREAS, they also raised awareness about the restoration of McClellan Ranch Park through social networking sites, such as Facebook.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
Homestead High School Future Business Leaders of America
for their outstanding work, dedication, and valuable service to our community.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Tuesday, March Eighteenth, Two Thousand and Eight.
