HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 William Chan-Toyokawa Proclamation - Word - 04.14.2009PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, on Saturday, April Twenty-Fifth, Two Thousand and Nine, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize William Chan; and WHEREAS, Toyokawa has been a sister city with Cupertino for thirty-one years and since then the international exchange of junior high school students has preserved and promoted the sharing between these two communities; and WHEREAS, William Chan has been a diligent student and has been selected by the city of Cupertino Sister City Committee to represent the city of Cupertino while on an official visit to Toyokawa; and WHEREAS, under the auspices of this tradition of sharing between Cupertino and Toyokawa, William will add to the tapestry that binds the homes and hearts of these two communities. NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby recognize William Chan and urge all Cupertino residents to celebrate and acknowledge their commitment to serve as a representative of the people, community, and city of Cupertino as part of the 2009 Toyokawa Sister City Delegation. IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, April Twenty-Fifth, Two Thousand and Nine. ________________________ Orrin Mahoney, Mayor
