HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 Water Awareness Month Proclamation - Word - 04.28.2009PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, on Tuesday, May Fifth, Two Thousand and Nine, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Water Awareness Month; and WHEREAS, the health of California’s growing population and the welfare of our communities depend on a reliable, high quality water supply; and WHEREAS, the fact that California will experience periodic droughts and water conservation is critical not only during drought periods, but at all times; and WHEREAS, local governments, water agencies, agriculture, industry, environmentalists and concerned citizens are working together to conserve and protect our valuable water resources; and WHEREAS, by encouraging statewide understanding and appreciation of the value of water conservation, we foster wise decisions on water issues; and WHEREAS, during May, Two Thousand and Nine, water agencies, cities, counties, and organizations throughout California will organize activities to educate the public about water management efforts of business, agriculture, industry, and others. NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby proclaim the month of May, Two Thousand and Nine, as Water Awareness Month in Cupertino and urge all citizens to join in supporting local water agencies and organizations in their effort to help Californians use water wisely and keep it clean. IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Tuesday, May Fifth, Two Thousand and Nine. ________________________ Orrin Mahoney, Mayor
