WHEREAS, on Monday, November Thirtieth, Two Thousand and Nine the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the Shin Shin Educational Foundation; and
WHEREAS, the Shin Shin Educational Foundation provides funds to help China build schools in remote poor rural areas to enable students to enjoy a better school environment, the completion
of the national basic education, and reduce the urban-rural gap; and
WHEREAS, the Shin Shin Educational Foundation has participated in the construction and repair of three hundred and twenty-five primary schools over the past twelve years; and
WHEREAS, the Shin Shin Educational Foundation has a strong connection to Cupertino with significant leadership and financial support from the management of the Acorn campus and a multi-year
partnership with the Rotary Club of Cupertino; and
WHEREAS, the current Mayor of Cupertino has had the honor of participating in three trips to China and visited over a dozen schools to witness the dedication of the Shin Shin volunteers
and to see the positive results of their efforts as seen on the faces of the children at these schools.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize the
Shin Shin Educational Foundation
for their outstanding work and to join in celebration of their 2009 Fund Raising Showcase.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Monday, November Thirtieth, Two Thousand and Nine.
