WHEREAS, on Tuesday, December First, Two Thousand and Nine the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Sig Sanchez; and
WHEREAS, Sig Sanchez is retiring after fifty-five years of excellent public service in Santa Clara County; and
WHEREAS, his most recent service included twenty-nine years as an At Large Director and five-time Chairman of the Santa Clara Valley Water District; and
WHEREAS, Sig has served as an elected member of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors for eighteen years, a Gilroy City Councilmember for fourteen years, and Mayor of the City
of Gilroy for five years; and
WHEREAS, he has also been an active member of numerous national, state, and local water resource affiliations; and
WHEREAS, in Nineteen Ninety-One, Sig was inducted into the Gilroy Hall of Fame and was honored and recognized with a ten-mile portion of state Highway Route 101 named for him.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
Sig Sanchez
for his hard work and dedication, and wish him much success in all future endeavors.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Tuesday, December First, Two Thousand and Nine.
