WHEREAS, on Saturday, October Twenty-Fourth, Two Thousand and Nine the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Chai Young Kim during the 2009 Silicon Valley Korean School (SVKS) Principal
Appreciation and Inauguration Ceremony; and
WHEREAS, the Board asked Chai Young Kim, who has been serving as the vice principal at SVKS, to serve a two-year term as the new principal starting this academic year; and
WHEREAS, after graduating in Korea with a degree in education and receiving her teacher certification, she taught as an elementary school teacher in Seoul for fourteen years until Nineteen
Ninety Four; and
WHEREAS, upon coming to the Bay Area in Nineteen Ninety Five, she has been actively involved with SVKS, first as a teacher, and since Two Thousand Seven, the vice principal; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Kim is an administrator with strong working knowledge of SVKS’s operation who has also demonstrated sincere dedication to the students.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
Chai Young Kim
for her outstanding service, dedication, and for creating a stronger and better community for the citizens of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, October Twenty-Fourth, Two Thousand and Nine.
