HomeMy WebLinkAbout047 CMTANC Youth Music Competition Proclamation - Word - 04.07.2009PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, on Saturday, May Thirtieth, Two Thousand and Nine, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the 2009 Chinese Music Teacher's Association of Northern California (CMTANC) Youth Music Competition; and WHEREAS, CMTANC is a non-profit charitable organization, founded in the summer of Nineteen Ninety-Two; and WHEREAS, yearly activities include student recitals, the CMTANC Youth Music competition, and Champion Honors Recital; and WHEREAS, throughout the year, CMTANC also sponsors various music activities such as workshops, seminars and master classes for members, students, parents and the community; and WHEREAS, the competition provides music students with an opportunity to exhibit their talent, reward their hard work, and encourage them to appreciate music of diverse cultural origins; and WHEREAS, categories are in piano, violin and cello and a screening panel of judges will select the finalists from taped auditions to participate in the final competition; and WHEREAS, finalists have the option to compete for the Special Chinese Music Award by performing a self-chosen Chinese piece in the final competition; and WHEREAS, the final competition is on May Thirty, Two Thousand and Nine, at San Jose State University and all first place winners and best Chinese Music performers in each age group will be invited to perform in the Winner's Recital on June Six, Two Thousand and Nine at San Jose State University, School of Music. NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby recognize the 2009 CMTANC Youth Music Competition and commend CMTANC for their commitment, involvement and dedication to our youth music education and also for encouraging and discovering future new music stars. IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Saturday, May Thirtieth, Two Thousand and Nine. ________________________ Orrin Mahoney, Mayor
