WHEREAS, on Thursday, January Twenty -Eighth, Two Thousand and Ten, the
City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Yoga Awareness Day in Cupertino; and
WHEREAS, the regular practice of yoga has been known to provide both physical
and mental health benefits to people of all ages; and
WHEREAS, yoga exercises increase flexibility and longevity for those enthusiasts
who practice its regimens; and
WHEREAS, the meditative aspects of yoga help many people to reach a more
deeper, spiritual, and satisfying place in their lives; and
WHEREAS, Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) USA, Inc. is organizing a unique
nationwide program titled Surya Namaskar Yajna (SNY) - Sun
Salutation Marathon and will be held from January Sixteenth to January Thirty -
First, Two Thousand and Ten.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do
hereby proclaim January Twenty -Eighth, Two Thousand and Ten as
Yoga Awareness Day
in Cupertino and thank HSS for their outstanding job with helping to preserve
and promote the ancient heritage and cultural values around the world.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the
City of Cupertino to be affixed this Thursday, January Twenty -Eighth, Two
Thousand and Ten.
