WHEREAS, on Monday, July Twenty -Sixth, Two Thousand and Ten, the City of
Cupertino wishes to recognize the 20th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities
Act (ADA); and
WHEREAS, on July Twenty -Sixth, Nineteen Ninety, President George H. Bush signed
into law the ADA to ensure the civil rights of people with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, this legislation established a dear and comprehensive national mandate for
the elimination of discrimination against individuals with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, the ADA has expanded opportunities for Americans with disabilities by
reducing barriers and changing perceptions, increasing full participation in community
life; and
WHEREAS, on the 20th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the City of
Cupertino celebrates and recognizes the progress that has been made by reaffirming the
principles of equality and inclusion and recommitting our efforts to reach full ADA
compliance.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby
recognize the
20th Anniversary of the Americans
with Disabilities Act (ADA)
and reaffirm our commitment to work toward full Americans with Disabilities Act
compliance.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of
Cupertino to be affixed this Monday, July Twenty -Sixth, Two Thousand and Ten.
