WHEREAS, on Thursday, May Twenty-Seventh, Two Thousand and Ten, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Wallace Iimura; and
WHEREAS, Wallace Iimura is one of the winners for the Cupertino Recognizes Extra Steps Taken (CREST) Award, which recognizes individuals and groups who have made outstanding contributions
to the City of Cupertino; and
WHEREAS, Wallace has been an essential member of the volunteer team at West Valley Community Services (WVCS), because he brings a great deal of professionalism, expertise and warmness
to the organization; and
WHEREAS, he has been volunteering for WVCS for over a decade, serving in several different capacities, all of which to improve the lives of low income families in the west valley region;
and
WHEREAS, predominately known as an IT volunteer, Wallace enables the WVCS staff to better perform their jobs; and
WHEREAS, in Two Thousand and Nine alone, Wallace donated well over one hundred fifty hours on site; and
WHEREAS, Wallace also helped WVCS start their own free tax program where he offered himself as a tax-preparer, and was instrumental in bringing the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax-Assistance)
program to WVCS; and
WHEREAS, Wallace is also a member of the Cupertino Emergency Response Team (CERT) and a committed volunteer for the Cupertino Senior Center.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
Wallace Iimura
for his outstanding work, dedication, and for creating a stronger and better community for the City of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Thursday, May Twenty-Seventh, Two Thousand and Ten.
