WHEREAS, on Tuesday, June First, Two Thousand and Ten, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize “Their Future Is Now!”; and
WHEREAS, “Their Future Is Now!” (TFIN) is a campaign for the purpose of seeking donated funds for the public education programs offered through the Cupertino Union School District (CUSD);
and
WHEREAS, Cupertino Educational Endowment Foundation (CEEF), community and CUSD leaders partnered in a successful collaborative effort to raise funds to offset the devastating state budget
cuts that threaten to undermine the quality of education in Cupertino schools; and
WHEREAS, TFIN were able to raise an outstanding two million dollars in funds that will be committed to CUSD; and
WHEREAS, these funds, in combination with the one million dollars allocated from employee furlough savings, enabled CUSD to rescind all one hundred and seven K-8 teacher pink slips,
restore 20:1 class size in primary grades, and preserve our school communities.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
“Their Future Is Now!”
for their remarkable accomplishments that have benefitted the entire community and for the continuing need to protect and support education in the years to come.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Tuesday, June First, Two Thousand and Ten.
