WHEREAS, on Thursday, February Eleventh, Two Thousand and Ten, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Sue Hsu and Kathy Chang on the occasion of the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce’s
12th Annual Lunar New Year Luncheon; and
WHEREAS, Sue and Kathy are receiving the Bridge Award-Individual for teaching Line Dance; and
WHEREAS, Sue and Kathy began teaching Line Dance in the Cupertino community in August, Two thousand and Six; and
WHEREAS, their ultimate goal is to introduce universally recognized line dances in the Bay Area, including the Chinese community, so that people can share in the fun and excitement of
line dancing; and
WHEREAS, they have become internationally renowned by providing instructions online, posting YouTube videos, and giving workshops in Taipei, Taiwan with the “International Line Dance
Association of Taipei”; and
WHEREAS, since Two Thousand and Seven, they have made over eleven thousand dollars in charitable cash contributions to non-profit organizations; and
WHEREAS, Sue and Kathy have successfully engaged a diverse group of over one thousand five hundred community members through their demonstrated commitment to the arts and education.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
Sue Hsu & Kathy Chang
for their outstanding service, dedication, and for creating a stronger and better community for the City of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Thursday, February Eleventh, Two Thousand and Ten.
