WHEREAS, on Thursday, May Twenty-Seventh, Two Thousand and Ten, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the Rhythmaires Band; and
WHEREAS, the Rhythmaires Band is one of the winners for the Cupertino Recognizes Extra Steps Taken (CREST) Award, which recognizes individuals and groups who have made outstanding contributions
to the City of Cupertino; and
WHEREAS, the Rhythmaires Band is a not-for-profit group of retired professional men and women that formed in the early eighties; and
WHEREAS, they are an all volunteer senior band originating from the Cupertino Senior Center that has been part of the Cupertino Community for the past thirty years; and
WHEREAS, the band consists of dedicated musicians that enjoy sharing their musical abilities and knowledge within the community, senior centers, retirement residences, convalescent hospitals,
and local school districts; and
WHEREAS, the band performs at the Cupertino Senior Center on many occasions, including the monthly social and birthday bashes, the center’s July 4th celebration, and numerous holiday
events; and
WHEREAS, the Rhythmaires Band has traveled to many local schools to share their knowledge of music and instruments; and
WHEREAS, each and every one of the volunteers bring a sense of warmth to the Cupertino Senior Center.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize the
Rhythmaires Band
for their outstanding work, dedication, and for creating a stronger and better community for the City of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Thursday, May Twenty-Seventh, Two Thousand and Ten.
