WHEREAS, on Sunday, June Thirteenth, Two Thousand and Ten, the City of Cupertino wishes to recognize Monsignor Joseph J. Milani; and
WHEREAS, Monsignor Milani was born on June Eight, Nineteen Twenty-Five and is celebrating his eighty-fifth birthday this year; and
WHEREAS, he was ordained a priest on June Sixteen, Nineteen Fifty for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Francisco—celebrating the sixtieth anniversary of his ordination this year;
and
WHEREAS, he was also a pastor of St. Catherine of Alexandria Church in Morgan Hill, CA from Nineteen Seventy to Nineteen Eighty-One; and
WHEREAS, Monsignor Milani was the first Chancellor and one of the founders of the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Jose when it was created in Nineteen Eighty-One; and
WHEREAS, he was named pastor of St. Joseph of Cupertino Church in Cupertino, CA in Nineteen Eighty-Five and served in that position until he retired in Nineteen Ninety-Five; and
WHEREAS, he also received the Cupertino Recognizes Extra Steps Taken (CREST) award in Two Thousand and Two.
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Cupertino, do hereby commend and recognize
Monsignor Joseph J. Milani
for his outstanding work, dedication, and for creating a stronger and better community for the City of Cupertino.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Cupertino to be affixed this Sunday, June Thirteenth, Two Thousand and Ten.
